Higgs Centre for Theoretical Physics and IPPP Summer School. 25-30 May 2015
The Higgs Centre for Theoretical Physics and IPPP are organising a summer school for advanced PhD students and early post-docs. No fees are charged and *local accommodation* can be *provided* to up to 20 participants. https://higgs.ph.ed.ac.uk/workshops/higgs-centre-school-theoretical-physics
The guiding principle behind this school is to focus each year on just two topics, and present a set of detailed lectures on these two topics. The lectures will be delivered on the blackboard, with plenty of time for tutorials and discussions. We hope that a week of study will be beneficial for all researchers in the early stages of their careers, even if they are not directly working on the topics covered by the School. A rotation of topics should ensure that a wide range of theoretical areas are presented to the students over the years.
The lectures this year (abstracts below) will be the following:
1. Maurizio Piai (Swansea) "The Standard Model at the Energy Frontier and Beyond"
2. Claude Duhr (CERN) "Mathematical aspects of scattering amplitudes and precision computations for the LHC" We would be grateful if you could advertise the school within your group and encourage participation from the early-stage researchers.
